Senior Gathering: A Social Luncheon

The Senior Gathering Luncheon events offer a FREE freshly prepared meal for folks over 60 years of age, while also fostering social connection for those older adults who may face isolation. Our staff, along with dedicated volunteers, work with local farmers, food producers, and chefs to prepare and serve a seasonally appropriate lunch using local ingredients whenever possible.

In addition to a free meal, our Senior Gatherings also include programming that is educational and / or entertaining. Previous programs have included musical selections performed by local high school students, as well as a presentation on the services provided by the Wayne County Area Agency on Aging Office.

We like to say that our Gathering events are much like sitting around a friend’s kitchen table to catch up and have a good time while sharing a great meal. We hope you can join us for one of our upcoming events!

If you are interested in volunteering or signing up to be a guest at our event, contact Ally Spaciano (570-253-2020 ext 6; or email Ally).

January 2025 Senior Gathering: Winter Wonderland Tea

The Cooperage Project recently hosted a “Winter Wonderland Tea” Senior Gathering attracting nearly 100 attendees. Participants enjoyed hot tea, coffee, cookies and sweet treats from local businesses and engaged in our Community Unity Quilt. The highlight of the gathering was a presentation by Carol Dunn of the Historical Society on Dick Smith’s “Winter Wonderland”. The event not only offered entertainment and education, but also created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, fostering a sense of togetherness during the chilly months. We look forward to future Senior Gatherings and hope to see you there!
